The Best British Countryside Locations To Visit This Summer

The British countryside is spectacular, filled with bees, flowers, meadows, fields, cows and horses to name but a few things. But it's also filled with amazing civilization, things that you simply don’t get to see when you’re in large cities like London and Liverpool. There are some incredible views to be seen, great local foods to eat and some amazing places for you to call home for a few days. Here are just some of them.

Oxford, Oxfordshire

A university city in one of the most serene and gorgeous parts of the country, Oxford is no stranger to famous people. Many current and past politicians and culturally important figures for the UK have studied at the university. For you, however, it's an amazing place to visit because it's so laid back. There are lots of people on bicycles because it's the most efficient way to move around. The Oxford Castle Prison is something of an attraction as it harks back to the Medieval Era with its classic squared tower posts. The Radcliffe Camera is a central dome in the university which houses the library. It's got one of the most fascinating collections of books and was built in 1737-49. The architecture is distinctly Georgian, and you can see the amazing detail yet powerful lines for yourself.

Humberside, East Yorkshire

Humberside is east of Sheffield and Leeds and has lots of different features and characteristics. Obviously, the first one is the Humber River, which wades in from the North Sea, through Humberston. To fully explore this area you should consider booking caravans for hire. The static caravan in Withernsea, Humberside, is in the holiday park of Withernsea. Children are welcome in this particular caravan and it sleeps up to 8 people in its 3 bedrooms. Comfortable accommodation is all you need when you’re exploring what East Yorkshire has to offer. Beverly Minster is a gothic church, built in the Middle-Ages. This is something that should be seen with your own eyes, as it's origins date back to the early 700s. It has a non-swinging Bourdon bell, which gives it a unique chime. Pocklington is a classic small town, where you can buy some brilliant fish and chips, take a canal boat ride and eat some of the local treats from the coffee shops.

Leeds, Yorkshire

Although Leeds is a giant city, it has some of the best countryside in the North of England. The RHS Garden Harlow Carr has been rated a whopping 4.6-stars out of 5 by around 3,300 organic reviews on Google. It's because it's simply beautiful, with incredible scenery and wildlife. The gardens have something for everyone, with beautiful flower beds, mazes, open fields, benches and a waterfall feature. Kirkstall Abbey may be closer into the city, but it's large expansive space coupled with its castle ruins make for a splendid walking space. You can also lay on the smooth grassy knoll for a picnic if you wish.

These are just some of the best places to visit this summer when you’re exploring the British countryside. Enjoy the peace and quiet by booking a caravan, so you have space, privacy and comfort while on your travels.
