4 Simple Tips For Planning A Solo Road Trip

If you have caught the travel bug somewhere along the road, 2020 must have been an incredibly challenging year. And, now that the vaccine is more than just a mirage, we can start planning for international travels and holidays again. However, realistically, that’s not going to happen for some more months at least.

So, we have to make do with what we have. And, independently from where you live, there are beauties around you that you have never had the chance to explore. So, what’s better than jumping in the car, camping in a beautiful location, and reconnecting to yourself? Deciding to do all this alone can be intimidating at first, but a solo road trip does not have to be challenging or uncomfortable if you don’t want it to be - with the right tips!

Plan Your Route

There are no flights to catch or tours to attend: planning a road trip really comes down to your preferences! You can leave whenever and make your trip as long or as brief as you want. However, planning your itinerary in advance is crucial - especially if you are not sure what to pack or what vehicle is best suited for your adventure. So, avoid all these trip planning mistakes and nail your route before getting on the road.

When planning your route, make sure that you don’t pick an itinerary that is too long. Of course, you can drive for 6 hours a day, but that is not the point of a solo road trip, and you are likely to fall behind schedule! Instead, pick a shorter route that gives you plenty of time to enjoy the journey, rest, and spends time exploring the surroundings.

Think About Accommodation

Planning your route and accommodation options will make a difference in the vehicle you will need. Indeed, if you are planning a comfortable road trip, you can just book yourself in a nice room in the hotels along the road. Aside from checking for parking, this won’t require much planning! However, if you are thinking about camping or glamping you should consider whether you need space for a tent or you should be renting a van!

Find the Right Vehicle

Once you know where you are staying and where you are going, you should heat to a trusted car rental, such as Burswood Car Rentals. Of course, you could choose to go in your own car, but not everybody has the right vehicle for such a trip. Additionally, if your itinerary includes dirt roads or more challenging drives, you should ensure that your vehicle can take that. And, of course, renting a car can help you be sure that there won’t be many repairs or emergencies along the road!

Share Your Travel Plans

When planning a solo road trip, it is necessary to let someone know where you are going. If your tip is set to last several days or weeks, you should also consider communicating your checkpoint with someone in your family or group of friends. This is a great way for you to stay safe and for your loved ones to avoid unnecessary worrying. Make sure you tell them if you will be late at a checkpoint because you made an unplanned stop at a beautiful location (after all, travelling is all about unexpected surprises, isn’t it?).
